Action Plan

The FishingWords.Com team (we would love to include you as part of the team, just register and jump in) is currently focusing on a few areas. We welcome anyone to join in on these items or feel free to move in your own direction if you see something you think needs attention.

The plan for now comprises of the following steps:

• Categories Good news: All existing pages have been categorized!!! Now we need to do some double checking on the previously categorized terms to make sure that they are categorized properly. Pretty soon there will be even more categories to view and use. We're working hard right now to get the categories available as detailed as possible. To see a list of all existing categories, visit the category list. How do you categorize a page? Edit the page, and you will see below the main edit box is a menu which has all available categories. Choose which categories the page belongs in (CTRL-click to make multiple selections).

• Create templates for categories.
  • The current templates are:
    • Template:Fish for fish types, such as Trout.
    • Template:NonFish for species which are not fish, such as Flamingos.
    • Template:Accessory for all things you use to fish, such as Fish Tackle Boxes.
    • Template:Bait for fishing bait.
    • Template:Tackle for fishing tackle.
  • Templates are needed for the following categories:
    • Fish Anatomy and Chemistry
    • Fishing Methods and Techniques
    • Miscellaneous Fishing Terms
    • Regional Fishing

• Implement templates in all existing and future pages. Is there a page about bass that you want to add? Make sure to use the correct template! Want to help out? Go back through the existing pages and edit them to make use of the new templates!

• Expand on existing short pages. A useful list to use is the list of long pages and the list of short pages. These lists will give you an idea on what short pages need more content, and what long pages you can use as examples!

• Adding new articles is something that is and always will be a helpful way for you to help out. Go to the search box to the left and type in any word that you'd like to add. Make sure that when you add a new page you categorize it and use the existing templates if there is one that would make sense to use.

We will be adding some great prizes for contributors to this site and are willing to pay team leaders who know a lot about fishing and are actively participating and coordinating our efforts on FishingWords.Com.
