Egg skein
Personal tools
From Fishing Words
Egg skeins are the membrane covered sacs of fish eggs inside a female fish prior to spawning. In effect, they are the ovaries. Many salmon and steelhead anglers are careful when they open up a female that has such egg skeins, since these make great bait for other fish. They are usually treated with borax or some other preservative and frozen until needed.
