is a North Pacific species of the cod family Gadidae.

This fish is olive green to brown on the back with silvery sides.
[edit] Size:
They have an average length of 61 cm but can grow up to 90cm. Weighing between 600 and 800 grams and can live up to 15 years.
[edit] Distribution and Habitat:
The Alaska Pollock can be found from California to Alaska and across the Aleutians to China, Russia and Japan; in Canada it is caught in the more northerly regions of British Columbia. It is usually found in water from 30m to 400m deep, mostly near the bottom.

This fish is a good replacement for cod in all but the most high-end restaurants as the white fish of choice. Alaska pollock is a lean fish with firm, white flesh. The fish is available fresh or frozen, headed and gutted, fillets and blocks.

There is 1.3 million metric tons of Alaskan pollock harvested every year.
